Garage door installation company in Scottsdale, AZ
You have an opening that needs a door, so tell us the width, the height and what the garage is used for and someone from our team calls you back.
What you get
A door that fits the opening and lifts on 2 fingers
Garage door installation in Scottsdale starts with the hole in the wall, not the catalog. Width, height and the headroom above the door head get measured before a door is picked, because the door is ordered to the rough opening. Get that right and the rest follows: track that fits, springs wound for the weight of the panels, and an opener that is not asked to lift more than it was built for.
- A door sized to your opening, not to a standard size that nearly fits.
- New track, rollers, hinges and weather seal under the new door.
- Springs matched to the panel weight, so a balanced door lifts by hand.
- A clear read on whether the opener you have can lift it.
- A style that suits the house, and a straight answer on community review.

Signs
5 signs it is time for a new door
The opening has no door in it
A new build, a converted carport or a bare bay needs a door sized to its frame.
A panel that cannot be matched
A discontinued profile or a damaged end stile leaves a door a repair may not bring back to a clean line.
A door that is too heavy for the opener
If the door has to be helped up, or the opener strains and stops, the springs and the machine are out of step.
A style that no longer fits the house
A flat panel on a renovated ranch, or glass on a house with none, is a look a new door fixes and a repair cannot.
A door that lets heat into the garage
An uninsulated steel door on a west facing wall can pass heat into the garage, and a room above the garage can feel it.

The published range for a single door spans $2,000, and most of the gap is the door itself: its style, material and features (HomeGuide). A standard steel panel door sits toward the bottom of it. Glass runs higher, at $2,500 to $6,000 installed (HomeGuide). The cost page carries every range with its source and date.

Door types for a Scottsdale garage
Steel sectional. The most common door material (HomeGuide), with a raised panel or carriage look stamped into steel, in 1, 2 or 3 layers. It can dent, it is among the least expensive materials (Angi), and its panels can be swapped.
Aluminum full-view glass. A light frame around tempered glass, suited to contemporary homes. HomeGuide lists aluminum as lightweight and glass as offering less insulation. Springs are matched to the weight of the door.
Wood and composite. Wood is custom and heavy and needs regular maintenance, while composite mimics wood with less maintenance (HomeGuide). A heavy door means stronger springs and a closer look at the opener.
Carriage house. Decorative hardware on a steel back, with the hardware and the panels as separate parts.
Insulated against uninsulated. An insulated door carries an R-value on the label, rated from 0 for no insulation to 20 (Angi), and can help hold a west facing garage cooler.
Sizes. Angi lists a one car door at 7 to 10 feet wide and 7 to 8 feet high. Doubles are commonly 16 feet wide, with custom widths above that. The rough opening is measured, never assumed.

Panels and doors
Repair or replace?
Repair the door when the frame is straight, the model is still made and the damage sits in 1 section. A new door wins when the panels cannot be matched, when rust has reached the bottom seam, or when the door is changing anyway for size, style or insulation. The third case decides itself: an opening with no door in it is an installation, and no repair conversation applies. On a door that has already had a second set of springs, the panels, the track and the opener are all on the same clock, and a new door can be the cheaper answer over the years you keep the house.
Good to know
The rough opening decides the door
The number that matters is the rough opening: the clear width and height between the jambs and the header, the headroom above the door, and the space beside it. A 16 foot double needs a different track layout from an 8 foot single, and a garage with a low ceiling over the door head cannot take the same radius curve as one with room to spare. Measure it once, properly, and the door arrives with track that fits the space and panels that close against the seal. Assume it and the door can come back as a return and a second wait. This is also where a size change gets decided, because a wider opening can mean framing, a new header and a permit, which is a different job from hanging a door in a hole that is already right.

Good to know
A heavier door pulls the rest with it
Aluminum full-view glass looks light, and HomeGuide lists aluminum as lightweight, but a 16 foot glass door still carries a lot of frame. Wood is heavier again. The springs are the part that has to match, and they are wound for the weight of the door, not for the size of the opening. A door ordered by width alone is a guess about weight. The opener is the second part: a unit that has lifted a light steel door for years is not the unit for a heavier one, and a door that is out of balance can wear out a new opener sooner. The panel weight and the spring spec get settled before the order goes in, and the opener is checked against both.

5 questions
What people ask us
Still have a question? Call (747) 243-2089 and say what the door is doing.
Can I keep my opener with a new door?
Sometimes. The opener is built for a door weight and a door size, and a heavier or taller door can take it past that. A unit near the end of its life is worth changing at the same time, with the rail already open. Both ratings get compared first.
How long does a new door take to order?
A stamped steel door in a standard size is the shortest wait. A wood, composite or glass door built to order can take longer, and a color outside the standard range can add to it. The date is confirmed when the order goes in, not guessed at the first call.
My garage ceiling is low. Does that rule out a door?
Not always, but it changes the hardware. A low headroom track fits under a ceiling that will not take a standard 12 inch radius curve, and a wall mounted opener turns the torsion bar instead of running a rail back into the garage. Both are ordinary parts, and the measurement decides.
Do I need a permit for a new door?
Sometimes. Angi notes that most standard replacements do not need a permit and that one becomes more likely when the opening is widened or the framing changes. Published permit and inspection fees run $50 to $250 where one is required (HomeGuide, Oct 2026). Whether a permit applies to a job in Scottsdale is a question for the city's permit office.
Is an insulated door worth it in Scottsdale?
Often, on an attached garage or one used as a workspace (HomeGuide). An insulated door carries an R-value on the label, can help hold the garage cooler and can cut noise. On a detached garage that stores a car and nothing else, the difference can be smaller. The R-value on the label is the number to compare.
