Garage door panel and door replacement company in Scottsdale

You have a dent, a crack or a section that has slipped out of line, and you want to know whether that panel can be matched before you price a whole door, so tell us what you see and someone from our team calls you back.

What you get

A panel that matches the door you already have

Garage door panel repair in Scottsdale comes down to one question before anything is ordered: can the section be matched. A stamped steel door from a model still in production is the easy case, and one swapped section leaves the springs, the tracks and the opener exactly as they were. Wood, glass and carriage styles take more work to source. Have a photo of the damaged panel and of the sticker inside the door ready for the call back, and the answer comes with a range attached.

  • A dent filled and repainted, or one section swapped, with the rest of the door left alone.
  • A bottom section that seals again, so rain and dust stay out of the garage.
  • A straight answer on stain and profile before a wood section is custom ordered.
  • A clear call on when 2 or 3 damaged panels cost more than a new door.
  • Frame and glass work on a full-view door, priced by the panel.

Signs

6 signs the door needs panel work

  • A dent that catches the light

A shallow dent in a steel section is cosmetic until the crease reaches a hinge point, and a photo taken at an angle shows which one it is.

  • A crack at a hinge point

A crack that runs out from a hinge screw is where the section starts to step out of line, and it grows with every cycle.

  • A bent bottom section

The bottom section carries the seal, so a bend there leaves a gap along the floor that dust and monsoon rain find first.

  • Cracked glass in a full-view door

On an aluminum frame door the panel is the frame and the pane, so the repair is a pane or a frame, not a whole door.

  • Rust bleeding at the bottom edge

Rust that shows at the bottom edge can have eaten the seam from the inside, and paint over it may not hold.

  • A panel that has moved out of line

A section sitting proud of its neighbor has a bent hinge or a track that let go, and both need to be looked at together.

3 steps

How it works

  1. Tell us what the door is doing, by phone or the form

  2. Someone from our team calls you back and goes over the options

  3. The door is measured and the model checked against the sticker inside it, so the right section is ordered, and the swap is booked for when it lands

Types of door in Scottsdale homes

Sectional steel door. The standard door, and the simplest to repair, because a panel can be matched and swapped while the model is still in production.

Wood and wood-look door. A section has to come in the same profile and take the same stain, so it is often a custom order and takes the longest to source.

Aluminum full-view glass door. Common on modern north Scottsdale homes, where a panel is a frame around a pane, so a bent frame or a cracked pane is the repair rather than the whole section.

Carriage style door. Decorative hardware over a steel back, and the 2 are separate parts, so a scuff on a strap hinge does not touch the panel behind it.

Panels and doors

Repair or replace?

One damaged panel on a door whose model is still made is usually a repair, and the arithmetic is rarely close. The panel is a part with a price, the rest of the door is untouched, and the work stays on one section. Replace the door when the panel cannot be matched: a discontinued profile, a damaged end stile, a bent section that will not sit flat, or 2 or more damaged panels on an older door. At that point the sections, the labor and the freight can add up past a new door, and patching one section leaves the others the same age.

Panels and doors

What matching a panel actually involves

Many sectional doors carry a sticker or a stamp with the model and the size, often inside the top section or on the end stile. That number decides everything. With it, a supplier can confirm the profile, the color and the grain, and a section can be ordered against the door that is already hung. Without it, the panel gets measured: height, width, the rib pattern and the position of the hinge plates. Older doors are where this gets slow. A profile that left the catalog years ago cannot be ordered, and the search moves to salvage or to a door. Photograph the sticker before you call. It is the difference between a priced section and a maybe.

Good to know

A bent bottom section is a seal problem first

The bottom section is the one that meets the floor, and it carries the vinyl seal that keeps the garage dry. Bend it and the seal no longer sits flat. A gap along the floor is enough for dust, for monsoon rain driven under the door, and for whatever walks in after it, and that is why a small impact can turn into a water problem weeks later. A bend in the middle also changes how the door sits on the cables, so one corner starts to carry more weight than the other. That is the case for fixing a bottom panel early. It is also the section a bumper finds first, which is why the damage usually shows as a crease at one end and a seal hanging loose at the other.

5 questions

What people ask us

Still have a question? Call (747) 243-2089 and say what the door is doing.

Can one panel be replaced on an older door?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the model is still made and whether the profile matches. A door from a current line is straightforward. A discontinued profile means a custom section, a salvage search or a new door. The sticker inside the door answers it faster than anything else.

Will a new panel match the color?

Often close, not exact. Factory color is consistent, but paint on an older door has usually moved in the Arizona sun, so a fresh section can read a shade lighter than its neighbors. A photo in daylight sets the expectation before the order goes in.

Is it cheaper to replace the door than 2 panels?

Often, yes. 2 panels priced per section, plus labor, walks toward the price of a new door, and the rest of the door is still the same age. One panel on a sound door is the repair that makes sense.

Does a dent always mean a new panel?

No. A shallow dent without a crease at a hinge point can be filled and painted, and HomeGuide publishes minor dent repair at $100 to $300. A crease that has reached a hinge, or a section that no longer sits flat, is a panel.

Can a wood door be patched instead?

A section can be matched by profile and stain, but it is usually a custom order. Small damage on a wood door is sometimes better handled by a repair to the section than by a new one, and the stain match decides it.
